Jefferson County Community Solar Garden ‘Flips the Switch'

SunShare and Array Technologies join forces to provide sun-powered savings

Albuquerque, NM - June 22, 2016/ -- Array Technologies, Inc. (ATI) and community solar developer SunShare are proud to announce the commissioning of the Jefferson County Community Solar Garden located near Arvada, Colorado. This 1.5 Megawatt (MW) solar garden will soon be generating more than 2,500 Megawatt-hours of clean energy annually by utilizing ATIs DuraTrack HZ v3 single-axis solar tracking technology. Single-axis trackers are gaining traction among community solar developers with their ability to deliver more kilowatt hours per module to individual subscribers, minimizing land usage with fewer PV modules and ultimately providing utilities with a lower levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) when compared to fixed structures.

"Making solar energy accessible for organizations such as The City of Arvada and the Green Mountain Water and Sanitation District is a truly unique position," stated Array Technologies president, Thomas Conroy. "Offering municipalities, businesses and residential stakeholders the opportunity to reap the benefits of tracked community solar energy will drive residential and commercial solar to future success."

"SunShare is committed to bringing the most value to our subscribers, and ATIs DuraTrack HZ v3 trackers were the best possible solution to meet both the design challenges for this particular site and our subscriber value goals through the optimization of energy production," said Luke Rickard, Project Manager for SunShare. "Single-axis trackers increase the production of SunShares solar gardens as compared to fixed structures, putting more solar energy onto the grid and delivering more savings to our customers."

With 1,800 MW of community solar expected to be in-the-ground by the end of 2020, tracked community solar is bound to carry momentum into the future1.
