Specialist renewable energy insurer strengthens Newport Beach team as it supports California's ambitious renewable energy growth plans
While the U.S. Supreme Court in February 2016 decided to stay the Clean Power Plan, temporarily halting its implementation, many states, confident in the rule's legal merits, are continuing to make progress toward implementing it.
As the EU REACH legislation enters its final phase, the financial, administrative, occupational health and safety, and R&D challenges for companies in the electrical manufacturing industry are greater than ever before.
Energy Acuity has added policy information to their online renewable energy and grid infrastructure databases, broadening their scope of electric power intelligence and adding value for subscribers looking to follow public utility commission proceedings focused on clean energy and grid modernization.
A finely tuned carbon nanotube thin film has the potential to act as a thermoelectric power generator that captures and uses waste heat, according to researchers at the Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
Wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources now make up just about 10 percent of the nation's electricity supply, but transitioning to 100 percent clean energy is both necessary and feasible.
"Leading corporations from around the world have joined hands to help the Global Solar Council (GSC) accelerate the deployment of clean, reliable, emissions-free solar energy," said John Smirnow, GSC Secretary General. "This diverse group of companies will provide advice and counsel to the GSC on opening markets and building solar capacity."
Residential rooftop solar grew 66 percent in the U.S. last year. That means more consumer marketers and salespeople in the marketplace. More meetings with contractors and solar salespeople. More information to understand and more confusion.
Emily J. Gertz for TakePart: Filmmaker Shalini Kantayya set out to show that climate change isn’t all gloom and doom. The result, Catching the Sun, ably makes that case but may still leave you inspired and infuriated in equal parts. This fast-paced and compelling new documentary, which premieres Friday in New York City and in cities nationwide during April, follows a diverse group of job seekers, activists, politicians, and entrepreneurs as they tap into the world’s growing solar powereconomy. Kantayya jumps between nations that have unequivocally adopted policies to speed up adoption of renewables and more fitful efforts here in the United States to expand solar energy—from a program in Richmond, Virginia, training unemployed men and women to become solar panel installers to a “Green Tea Party” member and energy independence advocate working both sides of the halls of power in Georgia. Ben Walsh for The Huffington Post: There is a “substantial risk” that SunEdison may file for bankruptcy, the world’s largest renewable energy developer said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday. The company’s fall isn’t a referendum on the solar industry as a whole, as much as it is on SunEdison’s aggressive growth strategy fueled by excessive debt and financial engineering, analysts say. SunEdison “just thought they were smarter than everyone else,” said David Levine, the founder and CEO of Geostellar, a solar energy marketplace that has done deals with the company. The company’s shares have fallen steeply since they hit a high of $30 in July. They were at just $1.26 before the filing. The stock immediately dropped another 40 percent when the market opened after the filing, and the company was trading at just $0.59 by Tuesday lunchtime. “What happened from late-2014 to the middle of 2015, the company began embarking on a hyper-growth strategy,” S&P analyst Angelo Zino told The Huffington Post. "This historic announcement shows the U.S. is in the market for climate solutions that work. Wind power is one of the biggest, fastest, cheapest ways the U.S. can reduce carbon pollution. Through deploying more wind energy, we can cut out a tenth of the nation's entire carbon footprint by the year 2030 and keep more money in the pockets of American consumers while doing so.
Government, business and project development officials officially opened the Bowerman Power renewable energy facility in Orange, California, March 29 at a ribbon-cutting Ceremony. As the project's Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) Contractor, HR Green provided design, through commissioning services for the massive gas-to-electricity project.
New Vote Solar Research of Stalled Projects Puts Face on Impact of Legislative Inaction
Multi-crystalline cell price plummet this week as inventory adjustment makes the demand weaker. Due to high inventory level, major multi-crystalline cell buyers cut their purchasing order much higher than expected. Hence, multi-crystalline cell makers intend to leverage the aggressive price reductions to reduce their piled-up inventory levels by the deadline of the first fiscal quarter. Moreover, with high production utilization rate, the increasing inventory in March, and the decreasing procurement volume for April, oversupply situation leads multi-crystalline price tumbles more dramatically this week.
Scientists from the Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), along with their counterparts from solar energy research institutes in Germany and Japan, gathered recently to discuss the future of photovoltaics (PV) and assess its contributions to increasing global prosperity, energy security and mitigation of climate change.
