SGS Wind Energy Competence Center Attends World's Largest Offshore Wind Conference in Stockholm

SGS Wind Energy Competence Center presented its Wind Energy Services, including offshore wind farm project certification and condition monitoring at the European Offshore Wind 2009 Conference and Exhibition in Stockholm, the world's largest offshore wind energy event.

The European Offshore Wind 2009 Conference and Exhibition is the world's largest offshore wind energy event. With 4,000 m2 of stand space, over 4,750 participants and 260 exhibitors were present, making EOW 2009 double the size of the previous event in 2007 in Berlin.

The 3-day event was a unique occasion for SGS representatives and key players in the offshore wind industry to come together. The conference program included practical steps for decision makers at EU and national levels, and emphasized the importance of grid integration, industrial development, as well as environmental and administrative considerations.

EOW 2009 provided an excellent opportunity for the SGS Competence Center for Wind Energy to present to the European audience its Wind Energy Services, including offshore wind farm project certification and condition monitoring. SGS Wind Energy Services encompass the entire project life cycle of wind turbines.

SGS Wind Energy Competence Center, supported by the SGS Oil, Gas and Chemicals (OGC) division in Norway, gave visitors the opportunity to watch a live Oil Analysis Demonstration by the SGS Wind Energy experts. Oil analysis helps identify lubrication-related failures and machine wear and can effectively reduce maintenance costs and increase the reliability and availability of monitored equipment. Regular monitoring of the chemical and physical changes in a lubricant also provides early warning for potential failures.

On the second day of the exhibition, SGS invited visitors to join its stand reception and enjoy "Happy Hour," with live music by David Härenstam - one of Sweden's leading concert guitarists. In a relaxed atmosphere, the SGS Wind Energy Expert Team discussed topics such as the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance phases of offshore wind farm projects as well as the risks they entail.

As the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, SGS is the preferred international partner for onshore and offshore wind farm projects. Our strength comes from our experienced staff that has the requisite technical expertise in wind technology.

SGS is committed to providing a fully comprehensive program for the Wind Energy Sector that is designed to meet the specific requirements of every company. SGS provides independent inspection, verification, testing, and certification services with utmost confidentiality.

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide - the ultimate solution for fast and easy installation of the rail-less RockIt racking system on composition shingle roofs. Smart Slide conforms to UL 441 and TAS 100 (A)-95 for wind and wind-driven rain, providing a super-strong watertight seal that is achieved through compression, in most cases without the need for additional sealant. The waterproofing sealant is embedded deep into the granules of the shingle, thanks to the integrated flexible foam layer that provides cushioning. This ensures a secure fit that conforms to any architectural-style shingle. With UltraGrip Technologyâ„¢, you can rely on a secure installation, as it absorbs the movement created by thermal expansion and contraction. The pre-installed sealing pads are compatible with all composition shingle roofs, making it the ideal choice, even in ambient temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
