PowerWind expands its market presence in the US

 Framework agreement with Performance Services, Inc.  Second US turbine to be installed in Indiana this summer

Hamburg, 18 May 2011 – Six months after installation of its first US turbine in the Berkshire East ski resort in Massachusetts, PowerWind GmbH is planning to expand its presence in the American Community-scale market. Over the next twelve months, the German manufacturer will supply more than ten wind turbines to local project developers in New England and the Midwest. The next two turbines will be delivered to Performance Services, Inc. The Indianapolis/Indiana-based firm and PowerWind have signed a framework agreement for several PowerWind 56 units. The renowned engineering and construction company is specialized in creating sustainable energy concepts for schools, universities, health-care facilities and local governments, and has already implemented various wind energy projects.

In summer 2011, Performance Services will install a 900 kW PowerWind turbine on the campus of Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation in Akron, Indiana and hand the turnkey turbine over. The PowerWind 56 will enable the school corporation to generate a major part of the annual energy demand for its high school and middle school.
School corporations such as Tippecanoe Valley School are typical examples of the growing Community-scale market in Indiana. In addition to schools and universities, an increasing number of communities, medium-sized industrial enterprises, local and municipal utilities, health care facilities and holiday centers rely on wind turbines to generate part of their energy demand in an independent and eco-friendly manner.
PowerWind has already sold more than 120 wind turbines worldwide. Since 2007, PowerWind turbines have generated high energy yields in Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania and Poland. Therefore, leading European banks with long-term wind energy expertise included PowerWind products on their white list of bankable turbines. "The modern power electronics, reliability and high energy yield of the PowerWind 56 wind turbine make it perfectly suitable for Community-scale projects", says Tim Thoman, President at Performance Services to support the decision of purchasing the PowerWind turbines. "We are glad we convinced an experienced customer like Performance Services with our product and service concept. We believe this agreement is the starting point for a long-term cooperation", says Helmut Lange, Head of Sales at PowerWind.

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide - the ultimate solution for fast and easy installation of the rail-less RockIt racking system on composition shingle roofs. Smart Slide conforms to UL 441 and TAS 100 (A)-95 for wind and wind-driven rain, providing a super-strong watertight seal that is achieved through compression, in most cases without the need for additional sealant. The waterproofing sealant is embedded deep into the granules of the shingle, thanks to the integrated flexible foam layer that provides cushioning. This ensures a secure fit that conforms to any architectural-style shingle. With UltraGrip Technology™, you can rely on a secure installation, as it absorbs the movement created by thermal expansion and contraction. The pre-installed sealing pads are compatible with all composition shingle roofs, making it the ideal choice, even in ambient temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
