SOL, Inc., the leading provider of solar LED outdoor lighting solutions, is pleased to announce the installation of donated LED light fixtures and poles at Indian River State College's Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (BCIE). In keeping with the green and sustainable purpose and construction of the facility, IRSC is incorporating solar lighting at the entry drive to the Brown Center, in place of conventional lighting that would have otherwise been used.
SOL, Inc. has a long history of supporting local businesses and institutions through implementing solar lighting strategies and demonstrating the benefits of off-grid lighting. "SOL is proud to showcase our new 20/20TM Solar LED Lighting System in such a prominent location on IRSC's campus. The backdrop of the Brown Center enhances the clear message that solar LED lighting is effective, market-ready and visually appealing," said Audwin Cash, General Manager of SOL Inc. Cash added "The administration, faculty, students and local community can now witness how the latest technology in solar LED lighting delivers unmatched illumination without the installation costs, emitted carbon and costly electric bill always associated with on-grid lighting."
The three-story Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (BCIE) is now under construction at the Indian River State College Main Campus in Fort Pierce and is scheduled to open in early 2012. The building is being constructed to Gold LEED standards for green construction, and the Center it houses will prepare students for cutting-edge careers in emerging technologies, particularly in energy related fields, and provide programs and services to entrepreneurs and business start-ups gearing up to create new types of jobs.
"SOL's representatives have diligently worked with IRSC's Facilities Planning staff, our contractors and consultants to meet the College's lighting code and LEED requirements for this project. We are appreciative of SOL's involvement with IRSC towards the improvements to the entrance to the new building," shared Allen Bottorff, Assistant Dean of Facilities Planning for IRSC. He continued, "SOL's contribution is one more way that the BCIE is a pioneering project for IRSC in green technologies and sustainability."
