Voting commences to recognize the best of the Concentrated Solar Thermal Power industry
The battle between CSP developers, EPCs, technology providers and manufactures has begun as the CSP Today USA 2012 Award nominations officially opened this week. This year's prestigious awards ceremony will be taking place on June 27 in Las Vegas with an exciting new line up of awards

Amidst the backdrop of a challenging US CSP market, there have been great efforts made to excel the industry forwards with advancements in technology, engineering, cost reductions and lobbying efforts. A lot of the hard work has happened behind the scenes which is playing a role in cementing the industry's position in the US for the long term.
At the CSP Today USA 2012 Awards ceremony the crème of the industry will receive recognition in one of 5 categories; Technology and Supplier Award, Engineering Performance Award, Dispatchability Solution Award, Responsible Business Award and the Industry Choice Award. Heidi Hafes, Event Director at CSP Today ‘We are especially excited by the addition of the Industry Choice Award as it is a unique award that demonstrates and celebrates a company's contribution to the development of the CSP industry. This is a special award that holds the prestige of being the only award that will be voted for live by their industry peers.'
Previous winner Skyfuel's spokesperson Alison Mason said that ‘winning the technology supplier award created a great deal of publicity for SkyFuel, and brought our technology to the attention of some developers that might otherwise not have found us.' When the Gemasolar plant won an award last year for its 19.9MW CSP tower project which comprise of a molten salt storage tank for electrical generation of up to 15 hours without any solar feed, Santiago Arias from Torresol Energy stated that ‘winning a CSP Today has meant that more people know more about the Gemasolar and Torresol projects.'
The CSP Today USA 2012 Awards will be an interesting event to watch as companies raise the bar in the industry. There will be eager anticipation after the nomination entry closes on April 27 and the industry waits to find out who will be this year's finalists will be on May 7.
