Construction to start on Laketown Township's Community Solar Garden, subscriptions now available

Community Green Energy (CGE) announced today that construction is scheduled to commence on a 100kW community solar garden located in Laketown Township, Michigan. Township officials urge any area residents to contact CGE to learn all the details and benefits of becoming a subscriber in the Laketown Township Community Solar Garden.

Community Green Energy (CGE) announced today that construction is scheduled to commence on a 100kW community solar garden located at Laketown Townships Felt Mansion Estate the first week of December and should be completed within ten days. Harvest Energy Solutions of Jackson, MI has been contracted to design and construct the solar generation system that will produce approximately 128,000 kilowatt hours of clean energy annually, enough to offset Felt Mansions entire annual electricity usage. Laketowns Felt Mansion will use the solar system to generate electricity that will be delivered to the local electric grid and sold directly to Consumers Energy under the Experimental Advanced Renewable Energy Program (EARP). Using a ‘shared savings Lease Agreement with CGE, the Felt Mansion will lower its electricity costs as much as 40% in the first year.


Laketown Township will also have CGE operate the solar system using CGEs unique Community Virtual Solar Garden program, providing area residents an opportunity to purchase solar panels in the solar garden to receive monetary electric bill credits of their own of approximately 13-cents per kilowatt hour to as much as 16-cents per kilowatt hour over the solar gardens 15-year term. Subscribers can pay a single, upfront fee or finance their subscription for up to 5-years. Township officials urge any area residents to contact CGE to learn all the details and benefits of becoming a subscriber in the Laketown Township Community Solar Garden. Subscribers do not have to be residents of Laketown Township or Consumers Energy customers. Space in the garden is limited and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
