More than 45 solar developers, installers, investors and others from across New England interested in raising the profile of the solar energy industry, gathered at Rodman CPAs' "Solar Series After Hours Networking Night" at their Waltham office.

Rodman CPAs' solar networking event was held on the heels of the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program's official launch and brought together solar advocates from around New England. Brennan Molina of Northeast Clean Energy Council (NECEC), Boston Solar and ECA Solar were among the attendees.

Mark Vitello, CPA of Rodman CPAs' Green Team made opening remarks and shared an overview of solar accomplishments in Massachusetts. Vitello shared statistics from the Solar Energy Industries Association's (SEIA) Solar Fact Sheet.

The event was an opportunity for attendees to make valuable new connections, share ideas and discuss important topics such as the complexity of the SMART Program and the feasibility of ITC for developers, solar storage, structuring tax equity deals, tax modeling and more.

"We're in the sunset phase of the 30 percent Investment Tax Credit and the initial stages of the SMART program," explained Vitello. "Over the last five years, we've seen a significant decrease in price. But, as far as what the future holds, we'll be keeping a close eye on a number of factors, including continued trade negotiations and emerging technologies that go beyond solar installation on rooftops and in open fields. We intend to discuss these developments and more at our next Solar Roundtable session in the Spring."

Rodman CPAs' quarterly Solar Roundtable sessions will continue in Spring 2019. Those interested in attending or learning more should visit rodmancpa.com.
