2022 was an excellent year for the global solar industry: The number of new installations broke all records and the globally installed electrical PV capacity reached the one terawatt milestone. The positive mood is reflected by this year’s Intersolar Europe: More than 1,250 exhibitors will be presenting their latest products and solutions across eleven exhibition halls. The world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry addresses all solar industry players with an extensive accompanying program.

Intersolar Europe Conference: Markets and technologies in the spotlight
Covering the hottest industry topics for 2023: On June 13 and 14, the Intersolar Europe Conference will be putting the spotlight on the latest developments and trends while also providing a global networking platform for the decision makers of the industry. Starting off with a particular focus on Europe, the industry association SolarPower Europe will give an exclusive presentation of its annual Global Market Outlook for Solar Power 2023–2027. The publication sheds light on the leading solar markets, which will be discussed at a panel of national industry representatives. The experts will then discuss the current situation and strategies for accelerating the deployment of photovoltaics and for bringing PV production back to Europe. Two sessions will be dedicated to the latter questions, with the European Solar PV Industry Alliance (ESIA) outlining what is needed to make a solar renaissance possible.

Conference attendees can expect a varied program covering a range of topics, from financing PV projects to hybrid power plants and modern applications, such as agri-PV, floating PV and building-integrated PV. “Hybrid PV power plants are my absolute favorite topic of this year’s conference. The focus is on how to ensure a 24/7 supply of electricity from renewable sources,” says Michael Schmela, Executive Advisor at SolarPower Europe and Committee Chairman for the Intersolar Europe Conference. “We need to learn more about this issue in our industry, because it’s moving to the top of the agenda of more and more players – both among businesses and among consumers.”

An insight into practical applications at the Intersolar Forum
Visitors to the Intersolar Forum (hall A3, booth A3.150) can expect to learn about a wide range of topic. The Intersolar Forum will be hosting short lectures and best practice presentations on current topics and trends in the solar industry. On the first day of the exhibition, innovations and new solutions will be the center of attention. Finalists of the renowned Intersolar AWARD will be presenting their latest projects and solutions, followed by up-and-coming start-ups showcasing new business models or products. Intelligent building-integrated PV solutions will round off the day’s theme. The following day will be all about new technologies and applications. The French-German Office for Energy Transition (DFBEW) will be covering everything there is to know about agricultural PV on June 15, explaining how agricultural yields can be boosted while accelerating the establishment of the new energy world. The last exhibition day will then be dedicated to the electrical trade, because they are indispensable for uniting the electricity, heat and transport sectors.

PV manufacturing stage: Where will tomorrow’s PV production be located?
The rising demand for solar technology will require the massive expansion of PV production capacity. The PV manufacturing stage (hall A2, booth A2.409) will be hosting short lectures and expert presentations on PV production across all three days of the exhibition. The following questions concerning the renaissance of PV production in Europe will be addressed: Do we have the necessary know-how? What technical options are there? And how lucrative is production in Europe currently, anyway? Experts will be taking the stage to present promising technologies and to discuss innovations for tomorrow’s solar cell production. The PV manufacturing state is supported by the German Machine and Plant Engineering Association (VDMA) and SolarPower Europe.

Program with a variety of side events
To complete the experience for visitors, a number of side event will be organized in Munich. For example, the United Nations will be hosting a side event entitled Decentralized Energy Production: the UN and German Companies Side by Side, at which participating UN organizations will present their activities and needs concerning in the context of energy production.

Another highlight among the side events is the Women Energize Women conference. On June 15 from 10:30am, gender equality in the energy industry will be discussed, with a particular spotlight on financing. After all, exploiting the full potential of renewable energies requires more diversity. The conference is a project by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and is organized by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in collaboration with The smarter E Europe, the German Solar Association (BSW-Solar) and the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE).

Intersolar Europe and the parallel events ees Europe, EM-Power Europe and Power2Drive Europe will all take place from June 14–16, 2023, as part of Europe’s largest platform for the energy industry, The smarter E Europe, at Messe München.

Intersolar Europe is the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry. It takes place as part of The smarter E Europe – the continent’s largest platform for the energy industry – and focuses on the photovoltaic, solar thermal technology and solar power plant sectors. Under the motto “Connecting solar business,” manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, service providers, project planners and developers as well as start-ups from around the world meet in Munich every year to discuss the latest developments and trends, explore innovations firsthand and meet potential new customers. Intersolar Europe will take place from June 14 to 16, 2023 at Messe München.

It is held in parallel to three more energy exhibitions as part of the innovation hub for new energy solutions: ees Europe, Europe’s largest and most international exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems, Power2Drive Europe, the international exhibition for charging infrastructure and e-mobility, and EM-Power Europe, the international exhibition for energy management and integrated energy solutions. At the accompanying Intersolar Europe Conference, renowned experts shed light on hot topics in the international solar industry.

After three decades of working towards a sustainable energy supply for the future, Intersolar celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2021. Having started off as the local “Solar ’91” exhibition, Intersolar has evolved to become the most important solar industry platform in the world. The exhibition brings together pioneers and drivers of innovation within the solar industry, since 2018 under the umbrella of The smarter E Europe innovative platform.
