SPI Q&A with | Trojan Battery

Tell us about your company.

As the leading manufacturer of deep-cycle batteries, Trojan Battery Company believes in providing clean and reliable energy storage solutions that enhance the way people live and work around the world. Having shaped the world of deep-cycle battery technology for more than 90 years, Trojan Battery has focused its experience and expertise in deep-cycle technology on manufacturing the highest quality, deep-cycle batteries available in the industry. If there is one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that a truly outstanding battery must provide rugged durability, long life and reliable performance day in and day out.

Your company will be exhibiting at SPI & ESI 2019, what is it that makes this an important event for your company?

The SPI show is one of the nation’s premiere exhibitions for showcasing products that are specific to the solar power marketplace. This market has always been one where we feel our products perform well because of the reliability and durability of our batteries in extreme and off-grid conditions.  Having been recently acquired by C&D Technologies, Trojan and C&D together will show their full range of products which brings together over 190 years of quality battery manufacturing.

What makes your booth a must visit for SPI & ESI 2019 Attendees?

We are starting to see the demand for lithium batteries increase in this market, so Trillium Intelligent Lithium batteries will be a huge focus for the booth. With these two companies together comes the merging of two solar energy storage leaders that will be able to deliver the most diverse grouping of products for every type of solar application in just about any configuration.

SPI & ESI 2019 has many educational sessions, forums & Demo’s, is your company involved in any of them this year?

Although we are always asked to speak on energy storage trends, we are not currently a part of an educational sessions at this SPI, although we are a component in many of the providers solutions we have made partnerships with in the industry who use our energy storage as a part of their overall system integrations.  In our booth we will have a mix of sample batteries on display, real world case studies from around the world, and video content that will showcase the benefits of Trojan and C&D batteries.

When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see?  Any educational sessions, pavilions etc. you plan on attending?

We are always interested in seeing what our integration partners are up to and checking out the latest innovations in the inverter/charger, controller, and solar modules. We take the SPI show as a time to connect with our customer base as well to find out how their energy storage needs are evolving so that we can continue to meet those needs.

Energy Storage is undertaking rapid advancements and growth.  Give us an idea on how your company and product is being utilized now for energy storage.

Our Solar line is very popular among off-grid/mini-grid applications where storage is required to power remote locations where energy is difficult to obtain or is unstable. Most popular are our maintenance-free AGM and Gel Lead-Acid batteries which perform well in the most rigorous conditions and at extreme temperatures with the need for watering.

Give us your thoughts on what the future holds for energy storage.

We think more people will be moving toward lithium batteries in their solar applications.  With all of the advantages that lithium provides, it is just a matter of time before it is widespread.
