Take a Virtual Tour of the American Environmental Industry

Using powerful, user-friendly mapping technologies, Environmental Resource Web (erWEB) is helping consumers find environmental products and services.

Using powerful, user-friendly mapping technologies, Environmental Resource Web (erWEB) is helping consumers find environmental products and services.

Old fashioned printed maps are giving way to online mapping services that enable users to plot locations and get driving directions by simply entering street addresses. Today's virtual maps can not only plot locations and give directions; they can also be used to present satellite images, showcase businesses, and provide contact information including web links and phone numbers. erWEB is embracing this advanced technology by utilizing the best new dynamic, interactive, and draggable mapping services.

The locations of all erWEB organizations can now be viewed on 2-D street maps and satellite images using Google Maps. You can use your mouse to click and drag these maps to view hidden areas, or you can smoothly zoom and pan around the map. You can even get detailed directions to and from erWEB businesses using this service.

Consumers can also search for erWEB businesses in 3-D using World Wind - NASA's new 3-D global information system. Although World Wind was built to showcase geophysical data derived from airplanes and satellites (including high resolution topography, imagery, and animations), we have discovered that it also makes a great visual browser; and because millions of people use this software everyday, erWEB member organizations are now receiving more exposure than ever. To make all 300+ member organizations easier to find on World Wind, we have created separate data layers for each of our 7 consumer categories:

• Renewable Energy
• Sustainable Buildings and Interiors
• Recycling
• Transportation
• Education & Advocacy
• Research, Development, and Consulting
• Water Resources

erWEB is a comprehensive web utility that links environmental organizations with related news, facts and statistics, events, market information, press releases, and spatial data. In this way, erWEB is helping Americans understand and utilize the products and services of the emerging Environmental Industry.

Parker KleenVent provides closed-loop solution for wind turbine cooling systems

Parker KleenVent provides closed-loop solution for wind turbine cooling systems

Many 1.5 MW wind turbines use traditional open-loop water/glycol cooling systems. Regular water evaporation in the reservoir elevates the mixture's viscosity, prohibiting cooling of the IGBT and associated critical controls, causing the wind turbine to overheat unless serviced, which in turn means turbine downtime and high maintenance costs. Parker's KleenVent Coolant Evaporation Inhibitor (KV-CEI) is a simple add-on to the legacy cooling system, that eliminates water evaporation in the coolant solution and stops the ingress of airborne contaminants, by enclosing the cooling loop. The KVCEI also removes the need for continuous coolant monitoring during the warm season. Traditional maintenance calls to replenish or rebalance the fluids, take the wind turbine and transformer offline, resulting in significant downtime and revenue loss. Parker's cooling system solution optimizes wind turbine uptime and revenue, reduces maintenance costs and increases overall efficiencies.
