The Solar Center, Inc. acquires MAK Technologies to become leading East Coast Solar Contractor
The Solar Center, Inc. (TSC) announced today that it has acquired the solar business of MAK Technologies, a leading provider of solar energy systems in New Jersey. Combined with the company's existing operations in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, this transaction makes The Solar Center the leading East Coast solar energy company operating in both the residential and commercial sectors.
The MAK Technologies team will continue to operate from their Hunterdon county location. The extensive experience of the MAK Technologies staff in designing and installing solar electric and solar thermal systems will be integrated with TSC's existing staff of thirty solar professionals.
Dennis Wilson, CEO of TSC said, "This acquisition positions TSC as the leading residential solar company on the East Coast, and a major player in the medium size commercial market. MAK Technologies' reputation for high quality design and installation and excellent customer service, aligns precisely with TSC's focus. Although we have been able to grow until now by attracting experienced solar professionals, our backlog of over $12 million in solar projects prompted us to seek the addition of an entire team. We knew of MAK's reputation and felt they would be a great addition to The Solar Center family."
The combined experience of the staff from more than 150 completed solar electric installations makes the company the most experienced solar contractor on the East Coast. "To achieve New Jersey's goal of 1500 MW of installed solar electric capacity will require the solar industry to acquire increased scale and efficiency, considering that only 22 MW has been installed so far, and prompted our decision to add additional staff now," said Wilson.
The Solar Center, Inc., headquartered in Denville, New Jersey, offers its residential and commercial customers solar electric, solar thermal and wind generation technologies to meet their energy needs. TSC's founder, Dennis Wilson, has been developing solar thermal, cogeneration, energy efficiency and solar electric projects since the late 1970s.
