Independent Energy Systems Completes Solar Power Installation for SunRidge Farms

Independent Energy Systems, a provider of turn-key solar solutions, has completed a 113.4 kilowatt photovoltaic system for SunRidge Farms in Pajaro, California.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., June 20, 2007 -- Independent Energy Systems, a provider of turn-key solar solutions, has completed a 113.4 kilowatt photovoltaic system for SunRidge Farms in Pajaro, California. This is the second largest commercial solar project in Monterey County.

The system includes 540 SunPower 210 watt modules, has a first year annual energy production of over 160,000 kWhrs, and is expected to offset over 60% of SunRidge Farms' peak electrical cost.

"What this translates to environmentally is a substantial benefit in the first year alone: the elimination of 201,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions; that is a reduction of over 100 tons of CO2 - which is the atmospheric equivalent of planting 16 acres of trees or not driving a standard vehicle 240,000+ miles" stated Bob Evans, President of Independent Energy Systems.

The project was on a fast track and went from contract to start-up in just three months.

"All the key aspects came together to make this project run so smoothly: SunPower provided modules on time, Monterey County issued the building permit quickly with reduced fees, and SunRidge was a great company to work with at every step. The people at PG&E approved the rebate and interconnection in record time, and our design team worked with Direct Power and Water to develop a unique racking system that allowed a fast installation. We were very lucky to have such an ideal project." said Bob Evans.

Mary Quillin, Sustainable Projects Program Manager for SunRidge Farms, said about working with Independent Energy Systems, "Their attention to detail in planning the project was exemplary, and their professional follow through and careful documentation on every aspect of executing the project enabled us to reach our project goal in record time."
