Doty Energy Plans to Use Wind Power to Recycle CO2 Into Carbon-Neutral Liquid Fuels

Doty Energy presents WindFuels. Using off-peak wind energy, we can efficiently recycle exhausted CO2 into carbon-neutral fuels (gasoline, jet fuel etc.). Replacing fossil based fuels with fuels from recycled CO2 will dramatically reduce CO2 emissions and enable energy independence.

Researchers at Doty Energy have shown that it will be straightforward to make needed fuels and chemicals cost effectively from waste CO2, water, and wind energy. These wind-generated fuels, called WindFuels, will include ethanol, gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, and they will flow seamlessly into the current fuel infrastructure. They can replace fuels made from environmentally damaging sources such as deepwater oil wells and tar sands and they could cut Global CO2 emissions 40% by mid century.

It is not magic. It is just sound chemistry, physics, engineering, and up-to-date economics.

WindFuels solves three major problems.
1. Electric Grid Stability -Market for off-peak wind
2. Energy - Transportation fuels
3. Climate - Reduction of CO2

Doty expects WindFuels to be competitive as long as oil is above $80/bbl. Hence, WindFuels can be market driven.

The WindFuels production system is based largely on the commercially proven technologies of wind energy, water electrolysis, and hydro-carbon chemical processing. Wind energy is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Some of the hydrogen is used in chemical process that convert CO2 and Hydrogen into Hydro-carbon fuels. (The by-products are oxygen and water.) The catalysts and conditions may be chosen to produce mostly ethanol, gasoline, jet fuel, or diesel. A number of major advances have been incorporated in the processes to permit 60% system efficiency, which is twice what was expected by most experts just three years ago. A number of patents are pending, and the critical technical details are available from the WindFuels website . The details are being made public to facilitate rapid, global implementation.

Detailed system simulations have been carried out using commercially available, well validated software. The analyses and simulations have been reviewed and endorsed by distinguished scientists and engineers from the relevant disciplines. With quick support, the first pre-commercial WindFuels plant could be producing 50 million gallons of liquid fuels per year by 2014.

Lab scale testing is being implemented now, and small scale projects are being designed. Doty has designs for standard-size production facilities from 50 MW to 250 MW that will use mass produced components. (The 250 MW production facility should cost about 200 million dollars. The facility would then produce about 3000 barrels of fuels and chemicals per day at operating costs under $0.70/gal for the life of the facilities, which should exceed 40 years.)

Carbon-neutral, market competitive fuels can be profitably produced in America, contributing to national security while putting millions of Americans to work and reducing our trade deficit by over 700 billion dollars per year, all while reducing the price of fuels and reducing CO2 emissions by up to 40%.

Doty Energy is a division of Doty Scientific, which has a 28 year track record of developing and producing complex scientific research equipment for molecular structure determination using nuclear magnetic resonance.

SolarEdge Technologies - EV Charging Single Phase Inverter

The SolarEdge PV inverter combines sophisticated digital control technology with efficient power SolarEdge's EV charging single phase inverter offers homeowners the ability to charge electric vehicles up to six times faster than a standard Level 1 charger through an innovative solar boost mode that utilizes grid and PV charging simultaneously. This product is the world's first EV charger with an integrated PV inverter. Reducing the hassle of installing separately a standalone EV charger and a PV inverter, the EV charging inverter eliminates the need for additional wiring, conduit and a breaker installation. By installing an EV charger that is integrated with an inverter, no additional dedicated circuit breaker is needed, saving space and ruling out a potential upgrade to the main distribution panel. Whether you own an EV now or just want to be EV-ready, future-proof your home with SolarEdge.
