The ISEA is offering a 32-hour Photovoltaic Design & Installation (PV301) workshop at LEED Council in Chicago on 4 consecutive Saturdays beginning June 4th.

PV301 offers participants an advanced level of hands-on and lecture to prepare them for field installations and other advanced workshops. PV301 is for individuals interested in getting hands-on experience sizing, designing, and installing a residential sized photovoltaic system.

Participants will revisit how to correctly design, size and select PV system components and identify and interpret National Electric Code (NEC) articles that pertain to the installations. While working on a training roof, participants will learn safety procedures, system design and layout, component selection and specification, electrical and mechanical integration techniques, and troubleshooting that take place on real job sites.

Participants are required to have attended a PV101 and PV201 class, or comparable classes.

COURSE END COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrate proper safety procedures when installing a PV system
  • Size and design a PV system to satisfy consumer demands, site specifics, and the NEC
  • Diagram a high voltage AC grid intertie system
  • Correctly mount and ground PV modules
  • Properly wire and connect a high voltage AC grid intertie system
  • Connect a PV system to the electric utility
  • Complete a testing protocol and activate a high voltage AC grid intertie
  • Conduct troubleshooting for each PV system type

HPS EnduraCoilTM Cast Resin Medium Voltage Transformer

HPS EnduraCoilTM Cast Resin Medium Voltage Transformer

HPS EnduraCoil is a high-performance cast resin transformer designed for many demanding and diverse applications while minimizing both installation and maintenance costs. Coils are formed with mineral-filled epoxy, reinforced with fiberglass and cast to provide complete void-free resin impregnation throughout the entire insulation system. HPS EnduraCoil complies with the new NRCan 2019 and DOE 2016 efficiency regulations and is approved by both UL and CSA standards. It is also seismic qualified per IBC 2012/ASCE 7-10/CBC 2013. Cast resin transformers are self-extinguishing in the unlikely event of fire, environmentally friendly and offer greater resistance to short circuits. HPS also offers wide range of accessories for transformer protection and monitoring requirements.
