Siliken PV Modules Obtain Certification for Salt Mist Corrosion Resistance

During the test, the modules were exposed to an atmosphere of highly corrosive water and salt for 100 hours in order to verify their durability and correct operation in case they were installed in the proximity of the sea. The test assesses both the compatibility of the materials and the quality and uniformity of the protective layers.

Siliken solar modules have been granted a TÜV certificate in accordance with the IEC 61701:1995 standard, which made them suitable for installation in coastal areas where high concentrations of saltpetre in humid air are frequent. The company's modules obtained this certificate after successful testing of resistance to corrosive salt mist environment, performed by the laboratories of TÜV Rheinland in Cologne, Germany. During the test, the modules were exposed to an atmosphere of highly corrosive water and salt for 100 hours in order to verify their durability and correct operation in case they were installed in the proximity of the sea. The test assesses both the compatibility of the materials and the quality and uniformity of the protective layers.

This new TÜV certificate, pursuant to the IEC 61701:1995 standard, is added to those that Siliken modules have already obtained, such as ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004, and product certifications in accordance with the EN (IEC) 61215:2005 and EN (IEC) 61730:2007 standards, Security Class A, as well as EN (IEC) 61701:1999 for corrosion resistance in saline environments, by TÜV Rheinland and pursuant to the UL 1703 norm by Underwriters Laboratories and Intertek ETL for application worldwide. In addition, Siliken has become number one in the prestigious study carried out by Photon Laboratory. From January to December 2010, Photon ranked Siliken modules as the best in terms of measuring the accumulated power generation per year compared to more than 47 other modules produced by 36 manufacturers.

Siliken modules are used both in stand-alone and grid-connected installations, in parks, on industrial rooftops, in domestic installations and integrated in architecture. They offer power levels of up to 305 Wp with efficiency rates of up to 15.7% and a power tolerance of +3/0%. Siliken also manufactures PV modules that are larger than the standard, whose measures may exceed traditional modules by 30%. They are designed for architectural integration, acquiring a translucency of up to 40%.
