Natural Power wins "Safety Excellence" award
Natural Power has successfully won the Safety Excellence Award this month, awarded by E.ON Climate & Renewables at the utilities' Operational Safety Day.
Leading international renewable energy consultancy group Natural Power has successfully won the Safety Excellence Award this month, awarded by E.ON Climate & Renewables at the utilities' Operational Safety Day. The award was open to all companies involved in day to day site management of E.ON's Wind Portfolio.
The judges' award criteria included dedication towards safety issues on a consistent basis. The Natural Power Asset Management team were viewed as providing particular excellence in this area.
"Natural Power has performed exceptionally well given the many problems encountered with new site take-overs, generator exchanges, switchgear issues and thefts" commented Tony McCormack, Onshore Wind Operations Manager at E.ON. "Despite this, they continue to provide consistently high standards in their approach to site safety."
Natural Power has been providing asset management services to independent power producers and utilities for over a decade and is currently involved in managing over 80 wind farms in the UK and Ireland. Services for E.ON are focussed on local site management, which encompasses all aspects of work control, facilities management and HSE, including management of the HV system. Natural Power's site managers work closely with E.ON's own engineers and control room to providing these services, all in line with E.ON's Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
Following the announcement, Scott MacKenzie, Director of Asset Management, commented: "We are delighted to have won this award as it recognises our ongoing commitment to site safety being our highest priority. We have a strong relationship with E.ON, and currently provide site management services on 9 UK sites. Having previously been awarded E.ON Climate & Renewables UK Contractor of the Year we are honoured to receive this second award."
Part of the prize won by Natural Power came with a £250 award from E.ON, which was matched by SKM Consulting and Natural Power to a total £750. This was donated to Great North Air Ambulance Service.
