17th January 2012; PennWell Corporation has announced the launch of Renewable Energy World Africa, which will be co-located with the inaugural POWER-GEN Africa conference & exhibition to be held in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa on 6-8 November 2012.

Renewable Energy World Africa joins PennWell's existing network of leading Renewable Energy World events including Renewable Energy World North America, Renewable Energy World Europe, Renewable Energy World Asia, and Renewable Energy World India & Central Asia. This event will be owned and managed by PennWell, and supported by Renewable Energy World magazine, as well as Power Engineering International (PEi), and Cogeneration & On-Site Power Production (COSPP) publications.

Renewable Energy World Africa will be launched alongside POWER-GEN Africa 2012 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa, with a dedicated conference stream featuring three days of presentations and debate about the strategic challenges and technical solutions for expanding renewable energy power generation across sub-Saharan Africa.

Exhibitors will have a dedicated Renewable Energy World Africa pavilion on the show floor which will be a focus of expertise and global technological excellence in the green energy sector.

"Countries in sub-Saharan Africa today face a collective power deficit with the prospect of fast growing future demand. Renewable power generation offers huge potential to help close this gap in a continent with abundant renewable resources and space. With technology advancing quickly and manufacturing costs lowering, renewable power generation will play a big role in a new energy infrastructure in Africa offering solutions in both rural distributed applications and large-scale projects such as hydropower, CSP, wind and biomass," said Nigel Blackaby, Renewable Energy World Africa Event Director & Director Conference for PennWell's International Power Group

This exciting new industry forum will feature leading renewable energy industry professionals from around the world who will share their expertise and experiences to help define Africa's renewable energy sector of the future. With POWER-GEN Africa set to become the region's premier conference dedicated to the power industry, Renewable Energy World Africa will provide the perfect setting for industry leaders and decision-makers to network and keep abreast of the latest developments in the sub-Saharan region.

Based on the reputation of the global Renewable Energy World events, Renewable Energy World Africa's exhibition pavilion is expected to attract leading renewable energy equipment and service suppliers, who will line-up alongside the world's leading power engineering firms and local electricity generators, all demonstrating their latest technologies in the POWER-GEN Africa exhibition.

"Renewable Energy World Africa and POWER-GEN Africa will feature both strategic and technical conference sessions as well as a targeted trade show in which the focus will be on practical solutions to address Africa's power needs, based on the best available global ideas and technologies," said Blackaby.

Both Renewable Energy World Africa and POWER-GEN Africa will have particular focus on driving international attention to the region and encouraging growth of international and domestic companies doing business within sub-Saharan Africa. Through a series of blended sessions and panel discussions, specific emphasis will be given to the tremendous opportunities in this fast-growing region.
