The first Wind Technician AS degree college textbook focused on wind turbine maintenance

Portland, ME – Northern Maine Community College, Wind Power Technology Instructor Wayne Kilcollins has written the first Wind Technician AS degree college textbook focused on wind turbine maintenance available within the US. Published by Delmar, Cengage Learning, Maintenance Fundamentals for Wind Technicians, 1st Edition will be publicly unveiled at a reception held at the Maine Wind Industry Pavilion, AWEA WINDPOWER booth # 1321, at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, June 5th.

"We wanted Mr. Kilcollins to get national attention for his newly published AS degree text book and for helping to create the Wind Power Technology program at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle, Maine," notes MWII Director and Industry Coordinator Paul Williamson. "Mr. Kilcollins has a long-standing commitment to promoting wind power workforce development through his participation with the Maine Gubernatorial Renewable Energy Mission to Europe and affiliations with American Wind Energy Association's Education Working Group and the Maine Wind Industry Initiative."

Maintenance Fundamentals for Wind Technicians, 1st Edition was created with substantial industry support. The PLARAD Group in its role as a "global player" in the wind power industry supported this project by providing torque tools and corresponding training seminars in Maine, as well as photo material used in the book. Furthermore PLARAD also initiated a donation campaign for NMCC in Germany (Partners: August Friedberg Bolts, PSA Safety Equipment). Additional technical support and content also came from First Wind, The University of Maine in Presque Isle and the Cianbro Corporation.

MWII Director Paul Williamson helped organize the Maine Wind Industry Pavilion at WINDWPOWER to introduce influential wind industry developers, manufacturers and professionals to Maine companies with relevant wind expertise, professional services and products. The following businesses will take part in the WINDPOWER 2012 Maine Wind Industry Pavilion: University of Maine Advanced Structures & Composites Center (AEWC) CIANBRO, Sargent, Maine Port Authority, James W. Sewall Company, Maine Composite Alliance (MCA), Sprague, Kenway, and SGC/Senergy Alternative Energy.
