CSP Today will celebrate its first event in Latin America next July

Following the company's success organizing events for the concentrated solar power community in Europe, USA, India, MENA and South Africa, CSP Today has just announced the dates for the first CSP Today dedicated to the LATAM market.

The 1st CSP Today event taking place in Latin America has been scheduled to take place in the Northern city of Antofagasta (Chile) on the 17 and 18 of July. By celebrating the event in Antofagasta, CSP Today is hoping to bring together the CSP & mining industry to find common ground for future developments.

In eager anticipation of a possible government tender process for a CSP plant taking place in a few weeks, the CSP industry leading companies have been jostling positions to present themselves as a the most viable option to build a plant in Chile in the upcoming months. With 760MW in the pipeline, Spanish group Ibereólica has most ground covered to fulfill the requirements.

This event will come at a key junction when the value of the CSP flexibility and dispatchability of energy is high in the agenda of mining companies. The cost of energy in Chile is among the highest in the world, and the industry has been in the past vulnerable to market fluctuations and supply chain issues.

The agenda of the event in July covers most of the challenges and opportunities to be found in the CSP market in Chile, including understanding the political and financial framework, how to sign a PPA with mining companies, how to build and connect to the grid CSP plants, mining processes opportunities, thermal storage and the CSP technology reviews and case studies from plants in Spain, USA and other leading markets.

Although the agenda is still work in progress, many of the speakers at the event have already been revealed in the website, including leading companies and institutions such as the Energy Ministry in Chile and its subsidiary CORFO, ACERA, Ibereólica, Abengoa, Torresol, Acciona, ACS Cobra and mining companies such as El Tesoro, Doña Inés de Collahuasi and Anglo American among others. Leading international CSP experts such as Gilbert Cohen, José Alfonso Nebrera, Álvaro Lorente & Gregorio Álvarez head up the technical agenda.

CSP Today is also on talks to organize site visit to the 14MWt CSP PT plant "El Tesoro" and details will be added to the website soon. For more details about this event please visit: www.csptoday.com/latam/en
