PVinsights : The USD appreciation against JPY and Euro makes solar module prices standstill
Overall solar component prices perform stable to slightly up this week. The slightly solar module price increasing this week is diminished by the US dollar appreciation against JPY and Euro.
With the cell demand improvement and EU antidumping tariff expectation, solar cell players outside China raise their cell price sharply. However, Chinese solar cell players continue to keep their low cell prices to drive the demand from the rest of the world. Moreover, solar wafer makers want to take this demand improvement to raise their wafer price to reduce their loss. As a result of wafer price increasing and antidumping tariff expectation, non Chinese solar cell makers continue to raise their price this week.
Chinese wafer makers seems to have more resistance from buyers. With the EU antidumping concerns, some solar cell or module makers would like to buy wafers made outside China. This week, major Chinese wafer makers keep their price stable. On the other hand, major wafer makers outside China still keep solid demand on hand so as to raise their price slightly again. As a result, overall solar wafer prices perform stable or slightly up.
With the significant price improvement since Jan, some polysilicon makers seem to push their prices slowly. Moreover, major polysilicon makers are waiting for the final result of China polysilicon antidumping investigation against the US, EU, and Korea. As a result, polysilicon price go up slightly this week.
