Aries Ingeniería y Sistemas to present at MENASOL Conferences current large-scale CSP plant design in North Africa

Development of first stand-alone large-scale CSP plant in North Africa marks milestone for renewable energy in not only the MENA region, but also worldwide. ----- Aries Ingeniería y Sistemas commits to innovation in new technologies and contributes to more competitive pricing in CSP technology. An example of the innovative nature of this industry is the HITECO project, (New solar collector concept for high temperature operations in CSP applications), a part of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission, which aims to overcome current limitations in the technology, redefining concepts and seeking flexibility in operating plants.

Madrid, May 7th- José Ramón Peréz, Chief Operating Officer of Aries' Energy Division will give a key presentation at MENASOL Conferences, entitled Large-scale CSP plant design in North Africa. The event will take place at Hyatt Regency Dubai Hotel, from May, 14th until May,15th.

The technical session focuses on Aries' expertise and successful case-studies in different CSP plants in North Africa and Middle East. Aries Ingeniería y Sistemas, as part of the awarded consortium composed additionally of ACWA Power and TSK, was the awarded consortium for the first phase of a proposed 160 MW plant (500 MW overall) in Ouarzazate, Morocco. Aries will be the owner's engineer for the entire project.

Ouarzazate will be the first stand-alone CSP project in North Africa, as well as, the first CSP project awarded by means of a competitive tender process. The plant's construction is of vital importance to the sector not only within but outside of the region. It is the first step towards an ambitious Moroccan energy plan that expects to construct 2,000MW before the year 2020.

At the information session, José Ramón Pérez will present to the audience how the innovative regulatory framework in North Africa (especially Morocco) is creating an ideal climate for investment in clean energies. Aries is an engineering firm that specializes in the design and management of worldwide renewable projects, thus, presenting the case study in Ouarzazate will provide the audience with insight into the future of the CSP sector.

According to José Ramón, Aries team is really proud of being part of this ambitious project which will contribute to a more competitive future and realistic energy price policy in the country. We are also aware of the milestone Ouarzazate plant means for countries seeking to increase the percentage of renewable energies in their energy matrix, but have not yet opted for compensation mechanisms for the development of the same.

Aries Ingeniería y Sistemas' portfolio exceeds 1,000 MW in international renewable energy projects. The firm, with offices in Spain, the United States, and in China, has successfully developed projects in more than 22 countries.
