Latest technologies and international markets at Intersolar China 2014

Around 260 exhibitors are expected to present the latest developments in the fields of photovoltaics, PV production technologies, energy storage systems and solar thermal technologies on a total exhibition area of 13,000 square meters.

Freiburg/Pforzheim, Germany, and Beijing, China, May 14th, 2013 – From March 26–28, 2014, the international solar industry will flock to Peking for the third Intersolar China. This coming year for the first time, the major platform for the Asian solar markets is taking place in Beijing's China National Agricultural Exhibition Center (CNAEC).


Intersolar China is now supported by its new partner, China International Exhibition Center Group (CIEC), Beijing. Collaboration with the China Renewable Energy Industry Association (CREIA), Beijing, was established in 2012 with the aim of strengthening networking within industry and politics. Around 260 exhibitors are expected to present the latest developments in the fields of photovoltaics, PV production technologies, energy storage systems and solar thermal technologies on a total exhibition area of 13,000 square meters. During the three-day conference in Beijing's Kempinski Hotel, 70 industry experts speak about developments in international solar markets to over 600 attendees, with the event focusing in particular on the development of the Chinese market, large PV installations, distributed generation and industrial and commercial uses of roof-mounted photovoltaic systems.

The Chinese solar market looks poised to continue expanding. According to data from the Chinese government, a total of 10 gigawatts (GW) of solar power are expected to be installed this year. This would make China the largest solar market in the world. In 2012, the Chinese "year of the dragon", the Chinese solar market enjoyed an extremely dynamic growth. According to statements from different Chinese industry associations, between 3.5 and 4.5 gigawatts were installed last year, permitting a growth in the Chinese solar market of between 30% and 70% in comparison to 2011.

Dynamic growth of the Chinese photovoltaics market

In 2013, the construction of large free-standing photovoltaic (PV) plants alone should provide around 50% (4 GW) of the total planned PV installations. A further 3 gigawatts are set to be installed in projects from the Chinese incentive program "Golden Sun". Roof-mounted PV systems, which also enable on-site consumption, are predicted to contribute 1 GW. Backed by Chinese political support, incentives intended to increase the on-site consumption of solar power are also expected to be introduced this summer. Consuming electricity right next to where it is generated would also help to improve China's grid stability.

Intersolar China presents innovative solutions for the Chinese solar market

Intersolar China 2014's exhibition and conference shed light on the topics of large PV installations, distributed PV, energy storage systems as well as the on-site consumption of solar power. The exhibition also showcases the latest technologies, products and services in the areas of PV Cells and Modules, Balance of Systems, Components, Mounting and Tracking Systems, Applications and Solar Thermal Technologies.

Intersolar China with new sponsorship opportunities

Intersolar China is now enjoying support from a new partner, the China International Exhibition Center Group (CIEC), Beijing. CIEC is one of the largest exhibition companies in China and boasts around 20 years of experience in event management.

The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) is the organisation responsible for CIEC. The China Renewable Energy Industry Association (CREIA) was welcomed as a new local partner of Intersolar China in October 2012. CREIA's support is intended to further strengthen the exchange between industry and politics at Intersolar China in the future. As an independent and self-financed industry association, CREIA has set itself the goal of making more use of the enormous potential of renewable energy in China. CREIA made its first appearance as Intersolar China's collaborative partner during the Intersolar China Conference 2012.

Experts meet at the Intersolar China Conference

From March 25–27, around 600 industry experts convene at the Intersolar China Conference to discuss and examine the exhibition topics in more depth. In 2014, the 16 conference sessions will focus especially on the general development of the international and, in particular, the Chinese solar markets. Furthermore, a variety of sessions tackle the current technological progress and practical issues surrounding project development, with the event focusing in particular on the industrial and commercial use of roof-mounted PV systems, distributed generation, quality assurance for PV power plants including design, construction, maintenance and operation.
