AXYS Technologies Inc. (AXYS) would like to congratulate Fishermen's Energy on the recent deployment of their WindSentinel buoy. With a year of preparations and near-shore testing, the buoy was relocated from a test site near Atlantic City to an offshore area leased from the U. S. Department of Interior's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). Located eleven miles southeast of Atlantic, NJ, this site is within the Mid-Atlantic Wind Energy Area, in an area Fishermen's Energy proposed to build a 350MW wind farm.

"The device is now operating in 65 feet of water and transmitting environmental and meteorological data back to Fishermen's offices to support wind farm design and development," said Stephen O'Malley, Fishermen's Director of Metocean Assessments.

The WindSentinel™ is a wind resource assessment buoy that uses a simultaneously pulsing LiDAR to accurately measure wind speed, wind direction, and turbulence offshore at turbine hub-height and across the blade span. Using three fixed beams, this LiDAR can take single focused or multi-point measurements up to a maximum range of 150 meters.

"These measurements provide information for energy production estimates, as well as details about the wind effects across the rotor swept area of the planned turbines" stated Chris Wissemann, Fishermen's CEO. "The measurements aid in blade and other equipment design." Wissemann added.

RBI Solar - Dahlia Has You Covered

What if you could maximize the Ground Coverage Ratio (GCR) on your next project and not have to worry about the complicated variables that come with a tracker system? With a low tilt and clearance design, Dahlia® has the highest GCR of any fixed-tilt system in the marketplace. The system is available in three tilt options (7.5, 10 and 12.5 degrees) and designed to accommodate any sized PV module. The lightweight system is engineered with fewer components, several of which are shipped to job sites pre-assembled. This design feature reduces freight costs and rapidly trims the amount of on-site installation time required to complete construction. Maximizing PV coverage on a site can lead to an increase of production, which creates greater financial return for project owners. Over 100 MW of Dahlia® projects have been deployed across the United States, in regions of variable snow and wind loads. How much can Dahlia® cover and save you on your next project?
