Social Innovation Program Selects Eco Branding as Community Partner

George Mason University's entrepreneurial curriculum to include clean tech marketing start-up Eco Branding

Washington, D.C. – George Mason University's Social Innovation Program (SIP) chose Eco Branding as a community partner for entrepreneurship this summer. SIP, in its eighth year, is a program that brings undergraduate and graduate students from a global applicant pool for an intensive six-week experiential and academic training.

Part of the course involves connecting students with community organizations in the non-profit, social enterprise, public and private sectors. Selected organizations provide capacity-building projects to teams of 4 to 5 students. This summer, as a selected community partner, Eco Branding is working with its SIP team to develop market research to identify truly disruptive clean technologies.

"Eco Branding is continuously striving to foster social and sustainable entrepreneurship, and our selection in GMU's Social Innovation Program enables us to educate, collaborate and learn from the next generation of change makers," Eco Branding’s CEO and Founder Jake Rozmaryn said. "We are thrilled to be a part of this special program and look forward to building a long-term, collaborative relationship with the George Mason Center for Social Entrepreneurship."

Through the Social Innovation Program, students with passion and drive for social entrepreneurship have an opportunity to gain not only knowledge but also practical experience for future endeavors.

Director of Programs at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Program, Katie Rendon, says the selection process for all the community organizations can be competitive. "This year we received over 30 applications with only eight slots available," Rendon said. "We pick high quality projects that will be a good balance for both the students and community partners."

SIP provides a unique opportunity for young leaders to gain valuable work experience with organizations like Eco Branding, solving the most pressing social and environmental issues of our time.
