PV Evolution Labs Launches PV Module Vendor Qualification Program for Module Buyers, Project Investors and Module Manufacturers

OCT. 16, 2013 - Today PV Evolution Labs, the leading independent testing lab for PV modules and inverters, announced the launch of its formal Vendor Qualification Program for PV module manufacturers. The comprehensive program includes extended reliability / durability testing, pan files, LID testing, IAM coefficients, and NOCT testing.

"PV Evolution Labs (PVEL) is proud to be launching our Vendor Qualification program, which provides third party reliability and performance data that helps guide financiers, investors, module buyers and systems developers as they select modules," said Jenya Meydbray, CEO of PV Evolution Labs. "Manufacturers have been frustrated by the wide array of different testing requirements for evaluating prospective module vendors (suppliers). It's incredibly inefficient and expensive for manufacturers to jump through five different hoops for five different buyers. Our PVEL Vendor Qualification program enables manufacturers to ensure that they're meeting investor and project developer performance standards. There is no need to make assumptions about PV module performance when we can measure it."

PV Evolution Labs is focused on rigorous testing and assessment of the reliability and performance of PV modules — ensuring that the modules being manufactured for deployment in solar projects are well-designed and consistently manufactured. PVEL helps companies focused on large-scale solar project investment / development / deployment to reduce risk and increase ROI through specialized technical due diligence. The company's primary focus is testing for quality and consistency in volume module production; the company supports downstream partners by providing Statistical Batch Testing services, pan files and other vendor qualification services.

Performing reliability and performance testing for nearly four years, PVEL has worked with nearly every major module manufacturer. PVEL's downstream partners participate in the Vendor Qualification program to gain access to comprehensive technical due diligence reports when allocating modules to substantial pipeline.

"We rely on PVEL's 3rd party data to help us evaluate manufacturers bidding on our large scale projects," says Nick DeVries, VP of Plant Operations and Engineering at Phoenix Solar.

The company currently has eight leading PV module manufacturers participating in its Vendor Qualification program including JA Solar, Jinko Solar, BYD, Astronergy, and others. The company also has 17 downstream partners, and is actively signing up more every day. These include leading EPC firms, banks, developers, solar service providers, and independent power producers (IPPs) including Phoenix Solar, e.on Climate & Renewables, SPG Solar, Capital Dynamics, Juwi, Clean Power Finance, Lincoln Renewable Energy, K-Road, Panasonic Eco Solutions North America, AM Solar Corp, BlueOak Energy and others.
