Advanced Energy Storage Review Reflects an Upward Trend

A new advanced battery review has been released by the organizers of The Battery Show in response to industry demand and in light of the current rapid advancement of the battery industry.

A recent analysis of the global lithium-ion industry indicates that the lithium-ion battery market is set to experience ongoing market growth, reaching $24.2 billion by 2018. Management consulting and market research firm, Lucintel, suggests that "valuable opportunities exist in the industry due to impressive trends in demand quantity and growth". The Advanced Battery Industry Annual Review 2014 reflects optimism across the entire range of advanced battery technologies and provides a useful snapshot of progress and direction within the last year.

The Battery Show's event director, Steve Bryan, is enthusiastic about the current resurgence of the industry. He explains: "The purpose of this review is to provide the industry with an impartial view that serves to highlight the progress made in advanced batteries over the past 12 months, and where it is likely to go in the next 12 months."

The Advanced Battery Industry Annual Review 2014 includes interviews with George Kirchener on new battery regulations; Professor Jeffrey Chamberlain on how the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research is innovating new approaches to battery research; Scott McGregor and Sir John Samuel on Vanadium flow batteries in grid applications; Joe Fisher on the recovery of Valence; and Johann-Friedrich Dempwolff on EUROBAT; plus words from NASA's Dr Eric Darcy and Johnson Control's Brian Kesseler. Other features include: the Navitas/DuPont collaboration, the University of Michigan Battery Lab, A123 Energy Solutions and Nexeon.

The review also looks back at The Battery Show 2013 and previews the 2014 exhibition and conference in the context of a thriving industry on the up – and in the midst of an exciting era of constantly evolving research and development.
