Intersolar 2014 - NEW at Intersolar 2014: TRC SmartPhase™ Micro Parallel inverter reduces installation 75%
The Micro Parallel inverter, a bridge between the existing string inverter installation simplicity and the intelligence and energy harvest advantages of a micro inverter. This new technology is driving down inverter installation, cabling and activation costs by nearly 75%.
Technology Research Corporation (TRC), an internationally recognized leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of power distribution and management products, is showcasing their new SmartPhase™ multi-channel Micro Parallel inverter technology at Intersolar North America (Booth#8115) in San Francisco, California on July 8-10, 2014. The new technology represents a completely new class of inverter– the Micro Parallel inverter, a bridge between the existing string inverter installation simplicity and the intelligence and energy harvest advantages of a micro inverter. This new technology is driving down inverter installation, cabling and activation costs by nearly 75%.
Designed around the concept of easing the ergonomic burden of installation, diagnostics and maintenance, SmartPhase™ micro parallel inverters have the safety and data of an AC micro inverter with the installation convenience and placement flexibility of a DC string inverter. Designed lightweight and with easy, single-handed blind mount installation in mind, SmartPhase™ inverters can be mounted onto a solar panel, racking or directly to the roof. The patent-pending architecture has four independent channels per inverter, tying to a quick install plug & play trunk cable that supports 4 inverters or 16 separate 300W panels in total, easily meeting the needs of a typical household 5KW installation.
Physical mapping of the panel locations is performed automatically, replacing time-consuming manual processes used by others. Maintainers no longer need to hunt for panels, as energy yield reporting and system alerts are generated on the individual panel/channel level. Full-feature monitoring of panels delivered at 4x signal packet transfer capability of a micro inverter. The inverter remains operational, generating power and relaying performance, health and diagnostic data/alerts with as few as one solar panel and one inverter channel functional. The modular channel design is field-serviceable, and the system allows fail-safe self throttling and restart for thermal protection and remote activation/de-activation capabilities.
"From an installers standpoint, the Micro Parallel inverter is the most exciting new development since the introduction of micro inverters five years ago, " says Arnie Kravitz, VP of Sales and Marketing for TRC. "We are excited to see this new class emerge that targets the 5KW-200KW residential and small/mid-sized commercial applications."
