Mortenson Construction's Renewable Energy Groups has completed construction on the Spinning Spur II Wind Project located in Oldham County, Texas.

Spinning Spur II represents the 24th wind project that Mortenson has built for long-time customer, EDF Renewable Energy, and the 21st wind project that Mortenson has built in Texas to date.

Mortenson's overall scope of work on the 167- megawatt project included engineering, procurement and construction of all access roads, foundations, wind turbine erection, collection system, operations and maintenance building and the installation of MET towers.

Approximately 200 jobs were created throughout the course of construction which began in June 2013.

"We're very pleased to have partnered with EDF Renewable Energy on our 24th successful project together and to have been part of building one of the first projects to connect to the CREZ," (Competitive Renewable Energy Zone) said Tim Maag, vice president and general manager of Mortenson Construction's Wind Energy group.

The CREZ project was initiated by the Texas legislature in 2005 to help create a competitive market for wind energy in Texas, primarily by bringing power to more densely populated areas where transmission lines did not previously exist.

Since entering the renewable energy market in 1995, Mortenson Construction has become a leading builder of wind power facilities in North America with 137 projects completed or under construction.
