Baker Electric Solar Launches ABC10 News San Diego Connect Campaign

San Diego-based Baker Electric Solar launched a consumer solar education spot in conjunction with the ABC10 SD Connect program that brings relevant information on today's hot topics to its audience.

San Diego, Calif. October 2, 2014 -- Baker Electric Solar, a San Diego-based solar company that designs, builds and installs photovoltaic solar power systems across Southern California, launched a consumer solar education spot in conjunction with the ABC10 News San Diego Connect program. The information-based interviews bring relevant information on today's hot topics to the station's audience.

Baker Electric Solar President, Mike Teresso, was interviewed by ABC10's Susan DeVincent. The interview is running four times through October 8, 2014 on Channel 10 at 11:55 a.m. The purpose of the campaign was to educate consumers on the savings they can achieve by going solar. Teresso covers why people are making the switch; why solar is a viable savings option with current and projected rising utility rates; and with more than a hundred solar companies in San Diego County, the importance of choosing an established contractor.

In addition to giving solar information and tips, Teresso advises consumers to ask a lot of important questions as they are researching solar. Baker Electric Solar encourages homeowners to get two to three estimates before choosing a solar contractor. To help consumers in this selection process, Baker provides a free resource on its website titled "Checklist for Choosing a Solar Company." In addition to questions about a company's licenses and how long they have been in business, the checklist goes into areas a homeowner might not even know to ask, such as:
• Does the company do all of the work — sale and installation or do they subcontract the installation?
• How does the company protect the roof during installation?
• Will the company provide proof of liability and workers compensation insurance as well as proof of employment of the installers on site?
• Does the company keep an inventory of solar panels, inverters, racks in their warehouse?
• Will the company service the system and fulfill their workmanship warranty?
• Does the company have free technical or follow-up support?
• Does the company offer financing options, such as leasing?
• Does the company have a design / consultation team to help determine the optimal solar installation for the home or building's location?

"Probably the most important factor to consider in choosing a solar company is its longevity," said President Mike Teresso. "Seeing that solar panels have a warranty period of 20 to 25 years, you have to ask yourself the question ‘Will your solar installer outlast your solar warranty?' As a local, family-owned and operated company, Baker Electric Solar brings more than 75 years of electrical contracting experience to its customers."

When asked how Baker Electric Solar handles installations, Teresso mentioned how the company follows the "Baker Way" philosophy. Teresso said, "Our approach is to really understand your needs, how you currently use electricity and what your needs are for the future. We don't want you to be afraid to turn on your air conditioning any more. We want you to be able to enjoy electricity again. Our installations are different from the typical installer, because we design a custom solution for you using only the best products and the best installation practices."
