PVinsights : The strong USD, polysilicon dumping, and western holiday make all solar price drops.

In the US and EU, because of the holiday, solar demand falls notably. Moreover, the module vendors and distributors are doing price promotion to decrease their stocks. Furthermore, the strong US dollar appreciation raises the extra module price pressure in Japan and Europe.

Overall module price steps down this week. In the US and EU, because of the holiday, solar demand falls notably. Moreover, the module vendors and distributors are doing price promotion to decrease their stocks. Hence, at this moment, module players are facing the price correction in the US and Europe. In China, as the deadline of solar power grid connection is postponed to January 2015, the domestic demand remains strong so that the local module price sustains stable. In Japan, the suspension of solar power grid connection continues to press local module demand. Furthermore, the strong US dollar appreciation raises the extra module price pressure in Japan and Europe. Therefore, module price, especially in USD term, dropped this week.

Both multi and mono cell prices go down this week. Solar module price corrections outside China shift part of the pressure on solar cell ones. While the China domestic demand is still solid and focus on poly modules, without the benefit from China demand but the demand slowdown in EU and Japan, mono cell price declined more seriously than multi one. At this moment, some cell makers are intensively to offer lower prices to secure their orders with the expectation that global solar cell demand will turn down in the near future. Besides, the strong USD against the JPY, EURO and CNY press the extra pressure on overall cell price as well.

Multi wafer price follows mono one to show the downtrend this week. As downstream solar players are expected to see demand diminishing in the near future, solar wafer procurement activities become speculation. Moreover, the downstream price is in the downturn, wafer price pressure goes up obviously. In addition, the serious polysilicon price correction in China makes solar wafer buyers request lower prices as well. To meet their annual financial goals and reduce their inventory levels, wafer producers adjust their selling price down. Influenced by the weak demand in EU and Japan as well as the strong USD, mono wafer price deteriorates more than multi one.

Overall polysilicon price plunges more sharply this week. At this moment, China polysilicon price is still higher than that outside China. With the expectation that the China AD ruling against US polysilicon will be executed on 1st January 2015, polysilicon traders continue to do their best to sell their polysilicon into China for their better profits. Moreover, to secure the orders in the following slow season and digest the inventories, China local 2nd tier polysilicon suppliers are also offering the attractive prices aggressively. Consequently, polysilicon prices worsen significantly this week.

RBI Solar - Dahlia Has You Covered

What if you could maximize the Ground Coverage Ratio (GCR) on your next project and not have to worry about the complicated variables that come with a tracker system? With a low tilt and clearance design, Dahlia® has the highest GCR of any fixed-tilt system in the marketplace. The system is available in three tilt options (7.5, 10 and 12.5 degrees) and designed to accommodate any sized PV module. The lightweight system is engineered with fewer components, several of which are shipped to job sites pre-assembled. This design feature reduces freight costs and rapidly trims the amount of on-site installation time required to complete construction. Maximizing PV coverage on a site can lead to an increase of production, which creates greater financial return for project owners. Over 100 MW of Dahlia® projects have been deployed across the United States, in regions of variable snow and wind loads. How much can Dahlia® cover and save you on your next project?
