tenKsolar's DUO System Confirmed for Class A Fire Rating

Unique low voltage technology eliminates the risks that come with conventional high-voltage solar arrays

MINNEAPOLIS, June 1, 2015 -- tenKsolar ("tenK"), a Minneapolis based manufacturer of cell-independent low-voltage PV systems, has received confirmation that its DUO PV System has passed Class A fire testing. The testing was carried out by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) in accordance with new requirements set forth by the Underwriters Laboratories safety standards (UL 1703 3rd Edition). The new requirements for fire ratings were developed to better characterize the performance of the entire PV system on a rooftop, rather than limiting it to the PV Module alone.

Both the California building code and International Building Code (IBC) 2012 require new solar installations to comply with the latest Class A UL standards.

In addition to meeting this new, improved standard for fire classification, tenK is recognized as a leader in rooftop PV safety due to its low voltage photovoltaic design and module-level rapid shutdown capability. The circuits inside tenK's PV panel never surpass 16 Volts Direct Current (VDC) and are always below the level at which an arc can occur, in contrast to very high voltage DC PV systems which can reach up to 1000 VDC. Also, tenK's innovative PV module design includes a rapid shutdown circuit integrated into each module to keep the module from generating energy unless connected to a complete circuit. In case of an emergency, shutting off the building power will cause each tenK Module in an array to instantly stop the output of power, making it safe for any emergency or maintenance personnel.

Joel Cannon, Chief Executive Officer of tenK said "tenK has always taken a system-wide design approach to PV safety. We maintain that the tenk PV Systems are by far the safest PV asset that can be installed on a building. When considering the entire life-cycle experience, commercial building owners can take heart that tenK has designed long term safety and reliability into our systems."

Vecoplan - Planning and implementation of complete processing plants in refuse derived fuel production

In order to reduce the costs involved in the energy-intensive production of cement, many manufacturers are turning to refuse-derived fuels (RDF), considerably reducing the proportion of expensive primary fuels they would normally use. Solid fuels are being increasingly used - these might be used tyres, waste wood or mixtures of plastics, paper, composite materials and textiles. Vecoplan provides operators of cement plants with proven and robust components for conveying the material and separating iron and impurities, efficient receiving stations, storage systems and, of course, efficient shredders for an output in various qualities.
