DC Solar Freedom To Deploy Millions Worth of Solar Generators to Colleges and Universities Across the U.S.

Renowned Mills College in Oakland, CA to receive first fleet of mobile solar products

Oakland, CA November 16, 2015 -- In an unprecedented move to establish new standards for solar usage at colleges and universities nationwide, DC Solar Freedom (DCSF), a California Benefit Corporation, has announced that Mills College in Oakland, CA is the first of to receive a fleet of mobile solar products, at no cost, under DCSFs multi million-dollar national Collegiate Placement Program.

Mills is receiving nearly $3 million dollars worth of mobile solar products, including light towers to increase safety and security on campus, outdoor work stations to charge electronic devices, and electric vehicle charging stations for electric cars, bikes, and campus support vehicles. A perfect fit for college campuses, the innovative products immediately reduce the carbon footprint while offering practical day-to-day benefits to students on campus. Secondarily, they will serve as critical back-up power for emergency preparedness on campus.

Underwriting for the program is provided by companies committed to supporting renewable energy, sustainability efforts, and student safety at institutions of higher education. All products offered under the DCSF initiative are distributed by DC Solar Distribution.

DC Solar Freedoms CEO and the founder of DC Solar, Jeff Carpoff: "Colleges and universities are home to some of the foremost thought-leaders on sustainability, yet when it comes to accessing renewable energy, they are often caught between capital costs and trying to reduce their carbon footprint. DC Solar Freedom offers a groundbreaking solution by placing renewable, off-grid products on campus at no cost. We believe in the vision and passion of forward thinking students, and were proud to offer them the products that support their deeply held values."

"Mills College is committed to responsible environmental stewardship and is strongly invested in sustainable campus practices," said Associate Vice President of Operations Linda Zitzner. We are continually exploring solar alternatives and are very pleased to be in partnership with DCSF. These solar units will help offset some of the costs associated with further reduction of our carbon footprint and will bring solutions to several of our challenging problems, such as electric vehicle car chargers. It reflects another way Mills can make a statement about our sustainability values, be creative to resolve difficult problems and take action to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. We are proud to be the first campus for this roll-out."

In the coming weeks, DCSF will place hundreds more of the solar units throughout California in support of sustainability, emergency preparedness and Governor Browns call for a network of expanded electric vehicle charging stations.
