PV Energy: Almost 50 % of the agreed rooftop installations on government buildings completed

sun2roof solar installations on public rooftops to foster Antiguas green energy future

Halftime for Antigua and Barbudas solar rooftop projects: Nearly 50 % of the agreed 2 MWp solar rooftop systems are installed. The 2 MWp sun2roof are part of a 10 MWp clean energy cluster conducted and realised by the government of the Caribbean twin-island state and the UK-based renewable energy provider PV Energy Limited. The equipment of government-owned buildings such as schools thereby represents a fundamental part of reducing the twin-islands dependency on fossil fuels and spurring the development of a green economy.

The constructions of eco-friendly sun2roof rooftop solar installations for the Ottos Secondary and All Saints Secondary School represent the latest projects concluded. Ottos Secondary is already fully equipped with substructure and solar modules for a 123.76 kWp installation generating 509 kWh of clean energy per day and therefore saving 98,555.70 kilograms of CO2 emissions yearly. The 104 kWp rooftop project at the All Saints Secondary School will produce 438 kWh of solar energy daily and generate CO2 savings of 84,679.30 kilograms per year. The installation of the substructure and solar modules is finished there as well. Upon completion and connection through the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA), the citizens can benefit from the reliable and sustainable energy.
The 10 MWp clean energy cluster moreover comprises the implementation of three large-scale solar installations with a total capacity of 8 MW. Whereas the sun2live solar power plant at the V.C. Bird International Airport Antigua was already commissioned in December 2015, the construction of the next megawatt-scale project has started in the Bethesda area. PV Energy will implement a 4 MWp utility there, contributing to the islands sustainable development. Currently, the fence around the area has been constructed and the next steps of the power plants installation are under preparation. The 8 MWp ground-mounted solar part of the overall ag reement will be concluded by another 1 MWp to be installed on Barbuda which is in the process of being commenced after parts of the equipment have been shipped to the island already.
The different solar projects realised and planned in the Caribbean state Antigua and Barbuda prove the deep commitment of its government but also its companies and citizens to harness the extremely good climatic conditions in order to switch from polluting fossil fuels towards a clean and renewable energy supply.
About PV Energy Limited: PV Energy Ltd. as clean energy provider was founded in 2010 to develop, build, operate and sell solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. Its primary focus is to bring efficient solar solutions to projects developers, investors and end-users, majority being B2B clients, where they are needed.
