ZGlobal Announces Completion of Construction of 33MVA Battery Storage System

EL CENTRO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Continuing its mission to deliver comprehensive Power Engineering and Energy Solutions, ZGlobal Inc. (ZGlobal) announced the completion of construction, and the delivery of the Coachella Energy Storage Partners (CESP) 33-MVA battery energy storage system. The project was part of a supply contract with the Imperial Irrigation District (IID). ZGlobal represented CESP as its owner's engineer, and performed the design, testing, integration and the overall project engineering. In addition, ZGlobal managed several contractors including General Electric ("GE"). This facility is the largest energy storage project to date, coming in under budget and three months earlier than scheduled. The plant is located in Californias Imperial Valley, approximately 100 miles east of San Diego. The facility will aid grid flexibility and increase reliability on the IID network by providing solar ramping, frequency regulation, power balancing and black start capability for an adjacent gas turbine.

California State Senator Ben Hueso and several representatives from the Imperial Irrigation District, Coachella Energy Storage Partners, General Electric, Samsung SDI, TTI, Chula Vista Electric, electric industry leaders and local and state officials gathered on October 26th as the districts new battery energy storage system was brought online.
