WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade association of the U.S. solar energy industry, announced today that NEXTracker, a leading single-axis tracker supplier worldwide, has joined SEIAs board of directors.
Founded in 2013, NEXTracker, a Flex company, has delivered trackers for hundreds of solar projects across five continents. Headquartered in Fremont, Calif., the company has offices in Mexico, India, Spain, China, Latin America and Australia, and is intently focused on supplying solar tracker and storage innovations that increase performance and reduce costs for power plants of all sizes.
"On behalf of NEXTracker and our parent company, Flex, I am extremely proud to be joining the SEIA board of directors," said Dan Shugar, CEO of NEXTracker. "SEIA is a fundamental partner for both our companies to support the expansion of solar around the world. We are jointly focused on collaborating with our global partners and customers to advance the power plant of the future."
"In joining SEIAs board, we underscore our commitment to increasing the deployment of solar energy worldwide," Shugar said. "Solar is on the cusp of becoming the most economical energy resource; we're keen to work with SEIA and the entire industry to achieve that goal."
Today, there are 35.8 gigawatts (GW) of installed solar capacity in the U.S. - enough to power more than 6.5 million American homes. As solar costs continue to fall, while its popularity rises, total solar capacity nationwide is expected to increase to 100 GW by 2020.
Celebrating its 43rd anniversary in 2017, the Solar Energy Industries Association® is the national trade association of the U.S. solar energy industry. Through advocacy and education, SEIA® is building a strong solar industry to power America. As the voice of the industry, SEIA works with its 1,000 member companies to champion the use of clean, affordable solar in America by expanding markets, removing market barriers, strengthening the industry and educating the public on the benefits of solar energy.
