Maine Woods Pellet Co. chooses Turboden ORC Technology Instead of Traditional Steam

8 MWe biomass ORC system for the largest pellet manufacturer in Maine (USA).

Brescia, April 20th 2017 - Turboden, a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and a leader in Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbogenerators for distributed power generation employing renewable sources and waste heat, provides an ORC system to Maine Woods Pellet, a leading pellet manufacturer based in Athens, Maine (USA).

Turboden supplied a biomass ORC unit to produce 8 MWe, the largest biomass solution produced by Turboden nowadays.
The plant is successfully in operation since October 2016 and, has already outperformed the expected power output, producing 9 MWe.

Thanks to this solution, the customer utilizes wood waste from forestry operations (logging and sawmill residues) to generate electricity to be employed in its production process.

This cogeneration plant uses a novel combination of both exhaust and condenser heat to pre-dry the feedstock for the existing pellet plant, making this the first biomass project to fully qualify for Massachusetts Standard Class 1 regulations for Renewable Energy Credits (REC's).

Turboden, a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries company, is an Italian company and a global leader in the design, manufacture, and after-sales of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) turbogenerators, which harness heat to generate electric and thermal power from renewable sources, including biomass, geothermal and solar energy and waste heat from industrial processes, waste incinerators, engines or gas turbines. Turboden has more than 340 plants in 38 countries and offers ORC modules from 200 kW up to 20 MW electric per single shaft. www.turboden.com

TRA SNOW AND SUN - SOLAR TILE MOUNT

TRA SNOW AND SUN - SOLAR TILE MOUNT

You haven't installed a tile mount that is easier to install than the Solar Tile Mount manufactured by TRA Snow and Sun. Solar Tile Mount is used on all tile roof profiles: flat, mid, and high. It is made in the USA of aluminum alloy for strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Solar Tile Mount is built to allow more ease in installation with more rise from the tile surface to the rail for better air flow below panels. The adjustable base is longer than most allowing attachment 6" to the left or right to have the bracket in the base of the pan of the tile and still fasten to the rafter. Solar Tile Mount is adjustable for counter batten systems from ¾" to 3". The horizontal rail is directly above base fasteners giving greater uplift resistance than any other system. For superior waterproofing apply TRA Snow and Sun's butyl backed VersaFlash aluminum flashing. No tile flashing is needed on top of the tile for greater labor and material cost savings.
