Talking SPI with SolarRoofHook

Tell us about your company.

SolarRoofHook is a Division of Quickscrews International Corp, the leading supplier of fasteners for the woodworking industry in the U.S. Greg Wiener founded Quickscrews in his garage in Daly City, CA in 1987. Using their knowledge of wood fasteners, the team at Quickscrews launched SRH in 2010 as a supplier of mounting solutions for the residential solar industry. Wiener received the patent for the QuickBOLT in 2012 and has been educating the industry for the past 7 years on the value of downsizing the products installers use on our roofs. Go to our website for pricing and details on the QuickBOLT, the smallest mounting system ever to accomplish a 100% leak proof environment.

Your company will be exhibiting at SPI 2018, what is it that makes this an important event for your company?

We’ve been exhibiting at SPI for over 5 years now, but this year we are excited to unveil multiple new product lines that offer installers affordable ways to minimize the cost of residential installation. The show also gives us an opportunity to meet our customers in person, many of whom are new QuickBOLT and Microflashing™ users from the East Coast. We love being able to market and sell our products online, but the power of meeting face-to-face is unmatched still.

Highlight 2 or 3 products you will be showcasing at the event?

We are debuting our upgraded product line for their QuickBOLT with Microflashing™ (Patent # 8448407). Our new 4" Microflashing™ has a larger diameter than the original 3" design, giving it more coverage and allowing installers to cover extra holes in the installation area if they miss the rafter. Click here to buy on our website.

We have also added the Quick Ratchet Conduit Clamp to the QuickBOLT line. Designed to be used with any of our QuickBOLT Mounting Kits, the new Conduit Clamp attaches directly to the QuickBOLT and provides a simple and affordable way for installers to run conduit on a roof. Click here to buy on our website.

Finally, we have also upgraded our aluminum flashing to the new Galva Flashing for Curved and Flat Tile roof mounts. Galva Flashing is a durable, rust-resistant, and affordable way to flash tile installations. Click here to buy on our website.

SPI 2018 has many educational sessions & demo’s, is your company involved in any of them this year?

We will be demoing our QuickBOLT with Microflashing™ product lines at the booth this year. While we do offer various types of videos, infographics, and webinars on the technology, installers tend to want to try the product with their own hands first. So come on by our booth to see for yourself how to vastly decrease your install time while maintaining a proper way to seal the roof.

When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see?  Any educational sessions you plan on attending?

Unfortunately, between meeting with current customers and talking with potential customers, we don’t have time to attend any education sessions this year. However, we are always interested in seeing what’s new in the Racking & Mounting market. For us to continue providing cost-effective solutions to our customers, we need to be aware of innovative trends in the industry. Our Marketing and Sales staff always walk the floor (usually on the last day when it’s emptiest), ask questions, and do the best they can to learn from others at the show.

When you book a booth for a tradeshow like this what are your expectations and what does your company hope to accomplish at the event?

Because of the consolidation of tradeshows in the industry, we expect SPI to become the most popular show for solar installers in the country. We expect further growth from our QuickBOLT and Microflashing™ products, because we know that once someone has a chance to see the product in action or demo it at the show, they almost always end up becoming a SolarRoofHook customer.

A tradeshow of this magnitude is extremely busy and stressful for the staff of exhibiting companies.  Any fun things or places your team can suggest in Anaheim to help unwind?

Fortunately, our exhibiting staff this year is a dynamic duo who can handle the stress. Our Executive VP, Rick Gentry, has been exhibiting at tradeshows for over 30 years and loves spending quality time with our customers, industry partners, and vendors alike. Give him good company, good food, and good music and he’ll be just fine. Our Marketing Manager, Samantha Dalton, is equally excited because of her new role at SRH. She is a rising star, and as long as she has some time to read a good book or enjoy a tasty margarita, she too can take on the busy days at SPI.
