EnterSolar Begins Construction of NYC Solar System for Dykes Lumber
Third Solar Project to date for Dykes Lumber, First in NYC
New York, NY, October 15, 2012 -- EnterSolar, a leading provider of commercial solar systems to corporate customers, today announced the start of construction on a 200 kilowatt (kW) solar system to be installed at the Dykes Lumber Company's (Dykes) facility located in Long Island City.
The Dykes Long Island City rooftop solar installation is being facilitated by the NY-Sun Initiative, a new public-private partnership that was introduced by Governor Cuomo earlier in 2012. Specifically, EnterSolar received an award under NYSERDA's Competitive PV Program (PON 2484), a portion of which be utilized to support the Dykes project. In addition, the project will utilize the NYC Property Tax Abatement that is available for eligible solar photovoltaic projects.
The Dykes solar project is also expected to utilize ConEdison's innovative and new "Remote Net-Metering" program, whereby surplus electricity generated by the Dykes LIC rooftop solar system can be credited to other Dykes locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.
