Greenwood Biosar Completes Construction of One of Vermont's Largest Solar Arrays

OCT. 16, 2013 – Greenwood Biosar, a leading solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, announced today that has completed construction on one of Vermont's largest solar photovoltaic power plants, a 2.4MWp system, in Sheldon Springs, approximately 35 miles north of Burlington. The plant has been interconnected since August 30th.

"Greenwood Biosar is very proud of its work constructing one of the largest solar power plants in Vermont," said Greenwood Biosar CTO Fivos Kalimeris. "We put our company's deep background and expertise to work constructing a magnificent project. Our team has a wealth of experience in solar engineering, design, procurement and construction of utility scale solar projects. We're delighted to be providing Vermonters with clean, emissions-free generation to meet their customers' electricity needs."

The solar farm is located in Vermont Electric Cooperative's (VEC) service territory. As the hosting utility, VEC has interconnected the solar farm to the electric grid and is purchasing a portion of the renewable generation output. "VEC has been pleased to work with the Greenwood Biosar team to facilitate their interconnection with the VEC grid which helps to meet Vermont's renewable energy goals," said David Hallquist, CEO of Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC).

The new 2.4 MWp solar power plant is generating approximately 3,000 MWh of electricity annually, and avoid the emissions of 1,800 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

Greenwood Biosar specializes in the design, engineering, procurement, construction, operations and maintenance of solar power plants. The company is currently active in constructing utility-scale solar projects in locations throughout the United States and Central America.

HPS EnduraCoilTM Cast Resin Medium Voltage Transformer

HPS EnduraCoil is a high-performance cast resin transformer designed for many demanding and diverse applications while minimizing both installation and maintenance costs. Coils are formed with mineral-filled epoxy, reinforced with fiberglass and cast to provide complete void-free resin impregnation throughout the entire insulation system. HPS EnduraCoil complies with the new NRCan 2019 and DOE 2016 efficiency regulations and is approved by both UL and CSA standards. It is also seismic qualified per IBC 2012/ASCE 7-10/CBC 2013. Cast resin transformers are self-extinguishing in the unlikely event of fire, environmentally friendly and offer greater resistance to short circuits. HPS also offers wide range of accessories for transformer protection and monitoring requirements.
