Ease of Use and Versatility Win the Day for RBS Solar

In the fall of 2022, Robert Scibelli, founder of Los Angeles-based RBS Solar, searched for a more innovative way to install solar panels on a new home for an important customer. “We were designing an installation for a multi-million-dollar home with a flat roof,” he explained. “Typically, we would use concrete ballasts on a flat roof, but I’m a structural engineer, and I didn’t want to add all that extra weight to the rooftop. That’s when I realized RT-MINI II would be the ideal solution.” Scibelli’s crew ended up using RT-MINI II for 50 roof attachments on that project.

A free sample makes a lasting impression.

Scibelli first encountered Roof Tech at the Solar Power International tradeshow in Anaheim about four years ago. “I was impressed with their products and was given a free sample of RT-MINI,” he recalled. “When I got back to our office, I showed it to my installation crew, and they had never seen anything like it, but once they used it on one of our projects, they were sold.”

Personalized expertise for consistent quality.

As an engineer and founder of his own company, Scibelli takes great pride in delivering top quality for his customers. He designs all the solar systems himself and works with his project manager to outsource installations to his two trusted crews. “We pride ourselves on being a boutique operation,” he explained. “I oversee everything directly to make sure our customers get only the best.”

RT-MINI II delivers the most essential benefits.

Scibelli was emphatic in naming the three benefits that impressed him most with RT-MINI II. “It boils down to cost, ease of use, and versatility,” he explained. “Cost is number one because it’s about one-third the cost of other options. Plus, it saves us so much in time and labor. There’s no need to hunt for rafters. You simply peel off the sticker, screw it in, and it’s done.” RBS now uses RT-MINI on all flat or pitched roofs. “It’s so versatile, it’s like the Swiss Army Knife of mounting attachments!” he said.

Moving forward with another Roof Tech product.

Recently, Scibelli’s Roof Tech representative, Rob Lusk, gave him a sample of the RT-REB Roof Entry Bracket with AlphaSeal™. “This bracket lets us pass the conduit through the attic, so it never shows on the roof,” said Scibelli. “Now we plan to use it on all our jobs going forward,” Scibelli added that he really appreciates the customer service he gets from Roof Tech. “Before I standardized on RT-MINI, I contacted Roof Tech, and they were so helpful. Since then, Rob has always been there for us with very quick service and great support.”
