First Tidal Energy Turbine with Lockheed Martin Technology Deployed Off Scotland Coast

Under contract and in partnership with Atlantis, Lockheed Martin designed the 1.5 megawatt AR1500 turbine. In addition to system design, Lockheed Martin developed, manufactured and delivered two innovative subsystems, the Yaw Drive System (YDS) and the Variable Pitch System (VPS). The two elements enable the turbine to rotate autonomously around its base, so it always faces into the tidal flow. The pitch angle of the turbine blades also adjusts to optimize the power generation in a given tidal stream.

PVinsights: Worsening Glut Threatens Global Solar Market with Sluggish Demand

Polysilicon prices that soared amid speculative frenzy last month just took another leg down, dropping slightly as rising production in the top manufacture spurred concern global supplies are once again topping demand. In China, polysilicon rally has stalled. Although demand remains solid, the sluggish downstream performance provides no driving forces for prices to further advance. Furthermore, as Chinese polysilicon manufacturers Daqo and TBEA continues to expand their production capacities and low-volume production by new entrant EastHope is expected to come on stream in 2Q17, the increasing supplies by Chinese polysilicon suppliers also spur the speculation that supply would probably top demand in near future.

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide - the ultimate solution for fast and easy installation of the rail-less RockIt racking system on composition shingle roofs. Smart Slide conforms to UL 441 and TAS 100 (A)-95 for wind and wind-driven rain, providing a super-strong watertight seal that is achieved through compression, in most cases without the need for additional sealant. The waterproofing sealant is embedded deep into the granules of the shingle, thanks to the integrated flexible foam layer that provides cushioning. This ensures a secure fit that conforms to any architectural-style shingle. With UltraGrip Technology™, you can rely on a secure installation, as it absorbs the movement created by thermal expansion and contraction. The pre-installed sealing pads are compatible with all composition shingle roofs, making it the ideal choice, even in ambient temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
