Samsung's 3 Megawatt 'Sol-Luce Jindo' Solar Plant Implements Solar Tracking Technology from TTI
Samsung C&T Corporation recently dedicated the 3 Megawatt (MW) "Sol-Luce Jindo" solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant. S-Energy Co. Ltd. designed and built the system utilizing their solar modules and the SunSeeker® Single-Axis Tracker System by Thompson Technology Industries (TTI).
TTI's SunSeeker® Single-axis Tracking System Maximizes Power Production for Site
October 6, 2008 (Jindo County, South Korea) - Samsung C&T Corporation recently dedicated the 3 Megawatt (MW) "Sol-Luce Jindo" solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Jindo County, South Jeolla Province in Korea. Sol-Luce Jindo will provide electricity to 1,500 families in the region. S-Energy Co. Ltd. designed and built the system utilizing their solar modules and the SunSeeker® Single-Axis Tracker System by Thompson Technology Industries (TTI).
The SunSeeker System allows for greater energy production over traditional fixed-tilt mounting systems. The single-axis tracking technology follows the path of the sun daily, resulting in 10-20% production gain over fixed tilt systems and up to 25% over flat mounted systems.
"We looked at various solutions, and TTI gave us a true advantage in large-scale solar system construction at a competitive price. System installation was quick and efficient resulting in lowered installation costs. Construction of the project was completed in two phases and the entire 3 MW system took less than 3 months to build. The system is comprised of 17,136 S-Energy 175-MQ modules spanning 86,000 square meters, using only 12 drive motors to actuate the sections of the SunSeeker tracker.
