The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for designing, constructing and operating high-performance green buildings.
The LEED guidelines from the U.S. Green Building Council address six areas: sustainable sites; water efficiency; energy and atmosphere; materials and resources; indoor environmental quality; and innovation in upgrades operations and maintenance.
