Tests of New Energy's Technology for Generating Electricity from Moving Cars Produce 25-Fold Increase in Energy Capture. New Energy's MotionPower technology is designed to be installed in locations where vehicles are required to reduce their speed, thus ensuring that the system only makes use of vehicle energy that would be required to slow down and does not rob vehicles of energy they would otherwise use to accelerate. The MotionPower system generates valuable electricity by creatively capturing and converting the vehicles' excess kinetic rolling energy. Every day, millions of vehicles slow or come to a stop at toll plazas, rest areas, traffic calming areas, drive-thrus, and countless other roadway points. New Energy's MotionPower devices make use of the energy wasted by these millions of cars, trucks, and heavy vehicles when they slow down or come to a full stop.
Solar power system owners looking for a compact, simple-to-use and attractive way to monitor and display their system's performance can now do so utilizing the SMA Sunny Beam.
Tigo Energy, the solar company whose unique technology brings new levels of power output efficiency, management and control to photovoltaic solar installations, announced today that the Tigo Energy™ Maximizer ES and EP products have been listed on the CEC list of eligible equipment.
A new grounding connector from Tyco Electronics shortens the installation time of a ground wire to a solar panel frame. The threaded connector inserts through a hole in the frame and uses two hex nuts to help provide a reliable connection. The connector handles 6 and 8 AWG (13.3 and 8.4 mm2) solid, uninsulated copper wire.
An accessory for the proven SOLARLOK brand of solar cable connectors, the new connector latch locking collar can be applied to mated connectors to prevent inadvertent or accidental unmating. The collar locks over the mated connection to prevent access to the release mechanism of the mated connectors. The collar allows tooled extraction, requiring only a screwdriver to be inserted into a slot in the collar for release.

The "Emerald Home" has achieved a net-zero designation and corresponding H.E.R.S. (Home Energy Rating System) score of "minus two," two points less than the magic number of "zero" as called for in Ed Mazria's "2030 Challenge."
The Solar Decathlon , an international competition hosted by the US Department of Energy (DOE) , is showcasing solar-powered home designs created by students from around the world. Students selected to participate were given two years to design and build the prototype solar homes, which must be carbon neutral and completely powered by the sun. The projects, many costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, were on display at the National Mall in Washington through Sunday (Oct. 18) and Team Germany took top honors. The 800-square-feet homes must be completely powered by the sun. They are meant to be prototype zero-energy, zero-carbon homes.
EIA-endorsed program offered by Kessler Advisors is designed specifically to meet needs of solar energy manufacturers, distributors and installers; provides business and employee coverages
The latest figures released yesterday by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) in its "Electric Power Monthly" report, confirm the continued growth of renewable energy in the electrical generation sector.
REHAU has provided the complete radiant heating system for Virginia Tech's "LUMENHAUS" entry into the U.S. Dept. of Energy's 2009 Solar Decathlon.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers tapped ACCIONA Solar Power, a unit of Spain's Acciona SA, and Clark Energy Group to develop the project, which launched its first phase on Thursday. The project, located at the Army's largest training range in California's Mojave Desert, could grow as large as 1 gigawatt in the future. The facility at Fort Irwin will surpass the 14-MW solar plant at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada as the U.S. Department of Defense's largest solar power plant. The new plant will have both photovoltaic solar panels and mirrors and turbines for concentrated solar power.

The NeON R module features "Back Contact" cell technology delivering an entirely black panel that is aesthetically pleasing and energy efficient. The cell's seamless, surface blends perfectly into nearly all rooftop designs while the module's electrodes are positioned on the rear of the cell. Using LG's N-type cell structure, the panels produce 365W of energy, up to 7.3kWp, compared to 5.8kWp of the p-type cell. The module's new design minimizes LID, thereby delivering a longer lifespan and increased energy output.
