DISTRIBUTED GENERATION - MICRO GRIDS

The term micro grid is mentioned more and more in publications on distributed generation. It generally means a collection of consumers, generators and potential energy storage entities connected together and operated as a small grid which is connected to the main grid, but capable of operating a self-sufficient island. The micro grid is typically linked to the grid with the help of a switch, which allows it to work both in grid-connected as well as island mode. However, island operation is not currently permitted in the majority of countries.

DRIVING THE HONDA CIVIC HYBRID

The electric motor gave the car a very smooth acceleration, with gear changes needed less often than I'm used to, and a very smooth delivery of power. The electric motor also seemed to smooth the gear changes so rather than the jerky transition you can get when accelerating and changing gear, it was altogether a more refined experience.

ECOFA - BIOFUEL MADE WITH GARBAGE

A group of Spanish developers working under the company name Ecofasa, headed by chief executive officer and inventor Francisco Angulo, has developed a biochemical process to turn urban solid waste into a fatty acid biodiesel feedstock.

HYDROGEN - BECAUSE WE NEED IT!

What follows is not meant to bash EVs, plug-ins or biofuels. And yes, hydrogen faces substantial challenges, chief among them vehicle cost and fueling infrastructure. But we need to be honest about all the options, or risk falling down the rabbit hole with Alice.

N2SOLAR - SIMPLE APPROACHES TO COMPLEX PROBLEMS

We hope this short overview of N2Solar will give a good sense of what we are about, can accomplish in the markets, and the needs to get there. We welcome your questions and look forward to discussing the merits of our projects and how outside financial participation could benefit..

SMART GRID SOLUTIONS

There are primarily three challenges to making the smart grid a reality: the economy; understanding the benefits of large-scale solar power; and how energy systems can be leveraged to deliver value well beyond the transmission of power.

SOLAR ENERGY CENTRE IN INDIA

Solar Energy Centre (Figure - 01) is the institute established in India with a view to encourage research in the field of solar technology as a viable alternate energy system. It is located at the 19th milestone on the Gurgaon-Faridabad road in Haryana state of India, and is established on a gently sloping site covering about 200 acres in a suburban setting, where climate is hot and dry with summer temperatures reaching as high as 47 degrees C. Its aspect of related with solar energy can be very well observed from its building design.

SOLAR STOCKS HAVE A GREAT WEEK

This week was the biggie with DJIA up 6.83%; NASDAQ +6.03% and this index rocketing 41.54%.

SUNSTOVE ORGANISATION

Five months without sales would have put most companies out of business. Luckily our overheads are minimal since we are Section 21 Non-profit. However, it was with great relief that we did eventually manage to persuade another moulder to make the cases.... but here lies the best bit of the story.

THE HISTORY OF HYDROGEN

One of the most serious gases we must use is Hydrogen - in our cars, buses, Space shots from the cape etc. I have been studying Hydrogen, Propane and many Bio-fuels and have found hydrogen to be the best, the oldest and the cleanest. I feel this alternative product is a win -win.

WHAT THE HECK IS A SMART GRID?

Nowadays we have several issues to face that are causing concern to humanity in general and the western world specifically. I don't think I need to repeat them here but basically they are environmental as well as geopolitical in nature. Hence, the old coal or oil burning power plant needs to be phased out and we must become much more efficient at generating and delivering electricity to end users or the costs become extraordinary over time.

WHY 2 BLADED ROTORS MAKE SENSE

One of the greatest advantages of two bladed rotors is the cost savings realized by the elimination of a blade. Although it can be argued that a teetering hub is more complex and costly than the rigid hub of a three bladed rotor, technological advances have reduced this complexity and cost. For example elastomeric bearings for the teeter hinge have eliminated the need for ball or roller bearings and the maintenance associated with these components.

Streamlining Treatment of Challenging Wastewaters in Food Processing

Ken's Foods' newly upgraded wastewater treatment facility, with the world's largest anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) system is not only a showpiece for the efficient reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) in challenging food processing wastewaters with high levels of organic content, but it is also supplying 200,000-plus cubic feet of biogas a day, providing 100 percent of the heat required for the treatment plant's operation.

TAC Studies Impact of Economic Stimulus Program

TAC, the building management and energy services business of Schneider Electric, is prepared to assist educational and government organizations to apply economic stimulus package funds to complete energy efficiency, conservation measures.
